Description of Organizations Services:
Workforce Investment Programs include the Dislocated Worker Program and Adult and Youth Programs. Individuals permanently laid-off from a job due to a work force reduction, layoff, closure or farm failure, including displaced homemakers, may participate in the Dislocated Worker Program. Services provided include an assessment of worker's education, experience and skills, and counseling to help workers overcome the trauma of job loss, loss of health care and other company benefits, strain of financial obligations and family problems, and uncertainties about remaining in the community. Job development and placement are provided to help laid-off workers find employment in high demand occupations. Assistance is given with basic education skills and obtaining a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). On-the-job Training and classroom work provide laid-off workers the opportunity to train for a new job while working and earning a paycheck. Adult and Youth Programs help individuals age 18 and older with limited income, who are unemployed or who are not self-sufficient, prepare for work. Services provided include assessment of skills, needs and employment goals, career and personal counseling, and job search assistance, including help with resume writing and interview techniques.
